Beak and Beam

Beak and Beam

2022 / Industrial design

The aim of this project was to develop a lighting fixture for Artemide, with a specific focus on accommodating individuals working from home. Many millennials who find themselves in this situation often face challenges in distinguishing between their home and office spaces, resulting in difficulties transitioning between relaxation and work modes. This absence of distinction often leads to decreased productivity and increased fatigue levels.

Beak and Beam, a floor lamp, offers automatic color-changing capabilities that deliver a visually captivating transformation to your room. This lamp also incorporates a mini projector, seamlessly enhancing the transition between relaxation and work modes, promoting effective unwinding and recharging.

Design Process

To begin, I sought to comprehend Artemide's customer segments, identifying those with significant purchasing power and potential for growth. I conducted interviews with these target customers to gain insights into their needs and the challenges they encounter.

Next, I started with the ideation phase, generating and testing those ideas. Through iterative refinement, I continually improved the design, ensuring it was optimized to meet the needs and desires of the intended users.
